Trying to understanding calendar behavior

I have developed a series of projects in an project database file. One of
projects is a resource pool. I was able to link the other projects and they
can all access this resource pool. However, I don't understand why when
someone assigns a resource to a task from the resource pool, a new record is
created in the MSP_RESOURCE data with the project id and the resource
information. If the purpose of a resource pool is to manage resources
centrally, why should project create another record of this resource when it
is used? Do these multiple instances of the resource maintain a
relationship, so if I alter the calendar in the resource pool project, that
will be reflected in all the instances of this resource in the other projects?

Hi,

The idea is that if the link to the Resource Pool is lost or you disconnect
from the pool, project has a record of all resources you use to maintain
schedule accuracy. Yes, updating pool data should update the local copy as
well.

Thanks, that makes it easier, since I have to update only one calendar for
vacation. BTW - I bought your book, it has helped get me started on
developing this project.
