Trying to unistall Office trial

Hi. I had downloaded a free office home& student 2007 trial. It never worked
as when I tried to start it up, did the product code and then an error:
Microsoft office&student 2007 trial encountered an error during setup" with
the only option being to close. Anyhow I can not even remove it with the Add
and remove programs. It does nothing when I click change or remove. Nothing
at all. I went out and bought the Office Home and STudent 2007 from Staples
and I get the Same error now. I put in the disc, it asks for the code, I put
it in and the same error comes up. What is wrong? I am not very computer savy
on the iner working and do not want to start fooling around with stuff incase
I do something really bad. Any idea's on what is happening? Thank you.

It would appear the installation and or files are corrupted,
Installing from cd over a trial version wont help or cure
There is a manual remove article on MS, but you say you are not computer
savey so maybe wont want to risk it, or ask someone more knowledgable to do
it

So after you followed the article, you cleared temp files, rebooted, then
checked add/removal dialogue to any ref to MS Office?
So why are you trying to reinstall the trial, if you purchased the cd?

Sorry I copy and pasted the error message. I meant I still get that error
minus the trial part while trying to install from the disc. I will give it
another look in the morning.

You did run disk clean up to remove temp files, then reboot?
What version of win and what is its sp level (if winXP) ?

I did get the trial off with the MS article, removed all traces, I think,
cleaned up files and re-booted. Now when I put in the disc to install and now
it starts to insatll the green bar on the installation page gets to about 1/4
of the way and then the error! "Microsoft office&student 2007 encountered an
error during setup" then closes.
It is Windows XP SP 3.
