Trying to "upgrade" from a 2002 PST file...

Hi,
in OL2007, I want to scrap my old, imported 2002 PST file and create a new
2007 database. Creating a new 2007 DB, copying the user files and folders is
easy enough BUT how do I move the "Today" stuff and assign my new PST file
as the OL2007 "Today" database so I can remove the 2002 database? I tried
renaming the 2002 PST and hoped OL2007 would recreate a new DB but it
refused to do so and exited rather stupidly.

Thanks

If you imported your pst-file you are already using the new UNICODE
formatted pst-file.
Anyway, set the newly created pst-file as the default via File-> Data File
Management...
Never delete or overwrite a still connected pst-file or you'll end up
corrupting your mail profile.

Never import from a PST. There is no need.

Create a new Outlook 2007 PST with File>New>Outlook Data File. Mate it your
delivery location on the Data FIles tab of Tools>Account Settings. Stop and
restart Outlook. Open the OL 2002 PST with File>Open>Outlook Data File.
This will put both the new and the old PSTs in your folder list. For any
folder in the OLD PST that is NOT a default folder (i.e., the folder is one
you created yourself), right-click and drag that folder to the root of the
new PST. Choose Copy when you release the button.

When all of the non-default folders have been copied, open each default
folder (i.e., the ones Outlook itself ceated: Inbox, Sent Items, Contacts,
etc.) Select the contents of the folder by pressing Ctrl-A. Right-click
and drag the selection to the corresponding folder in the new PST (or click
Edit>Copy to Folder). For the Calendar, you'll have to switch to a table
view like By Category in order for Ctrl-A to work. Note clearly that you
are NOT copying the folder itself, just the contents.

When you've finished copying all the datam, right-click the root of the old
PST and choose Close.

That was it, missed that. All moved to a 2007 PST file, thanks!
