Turn off annoying Task Pane (Help window) on startup

The Help window (I believe it's called the Task Pane) is like an
unwanted houseguest - it just won't go away when Visio starts up. I've
cleared the box on Tools/Options/View/Startup Task Pane, but it comes
back next startup. I've cleared the Task Pane checkbox on
Tools/Customize/Toolbars, but it comes back next startup.

Is there some way that I can just make it go away?

Are you seeing the Getting Started task pane or the Template Help task pane.
The Startup Task Pane should suppress the Getting Started task pane.
However, you may also be seeing the Template Help task pane. Go to Tools >
Options > General > Service Options > Online Content and uncheck the
Template Help item.
