Turn off Auto Date Change

I can not seem to find where/how to turn off the feature
which automatically changes the date within any and all
word documents to todays date. ie - Save a letter a
letter six months ago, open it today and the date
automatically changes to todays date. Thanks

When you insert Date/Time there is also a little check box that says update
automatically. Uncheck that.

Insert the CreateDate field which won't update.
