Turn off auto update in contacts. How to ? WINDOWS MAIL

O

ofrmgfo

I often get email with the cc:list from "down under".
These addresses all get shoved into my contacts, often as duplication.
It didn't used to do this . Honest.
This means I no doubt fat fingered something somewhere.
If someone would tell me how to turn off this function I would owe you
chocolate and/or coffee.

Outlook does not do this and has no such option. If you are not using
Outlook, then post in the appropriate group.

I
If I could find a Windows Mail groups, I certainly would have posted to it.
I had hopes that given WM is the successor to Outlook Express that someone
might know or at least point me to place I need to go, rather trhan leave me
a snippy remark

Microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail is for Windows Mail.
'Tools|Options|Send', uncheck the "Automatically put people I reply to in my
Contacts list" checkbox.

Snippy remark? Forgive me for assuming a baseline familiarity with
newsgroups and how to use them. Is it really too much to expect you to be
able to search for and find a group called
microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail ?
Moreover, Outlook has nothing to do with Outlook Express so even an OE
question did not belong here. Hopefully you now have sufficient direction
for your quest.

Arrogant little pup.
I was using USENET when it ran over UUCP and you were still in diapers.
Yes I predate "The net" to the point where it could be shown on one piece of
8.5x11 with typewriter graphics.
Yes I am familiar with newsgroups.
Arriving "here" from VISTA help gives no indication that this is a link to
the net.
Thus enlightened, I will head directly to a real reader and look for answers
on the net.
I suppose I could also lart(8) this mess and just load eudora or thunderbird
or elm or pine or a host of other front ends.
In closing Russ, thanks so much for you assistance and knowledge. Blessed is
he who helps other.
Yes Russ you are forgiven per your request above. Bless you child. Go forth
and sin no more.

You're welcome. I had no idea you did not know you were using USENET. Might
not want to bet on which of us is older. You'd lose.

Perhaps I was a tad harsh. I apologize.
Now comes the fun stuff :)

We couldn't affod snow and had to chip river ice onto the path to school
before.....

I was on a 7090 in 62 just before we upgraded to a 7094. Then we got the
