Turn off auto update links on print

I want to turn *OFF *the auto updating of links on printing. I'm usin
Word 2007, and I've verified that in Word Options the following ar
*unchecked*:

-under Display: Update fields before priting
-under Display: Update linked data before printing
-under Web Options - Files: Update links on save

I've found a workaround by editing every field code and adding
switch, but I'd rather figure out why it's doing what it's doing
