Turn Off Automatic Merging of Note Containers; "Unmerging" Contain

1. Is there a way to turn off automatic merging of note containers? (See
comment below.)

2. When note containers have merged and adjacent containers are very close,
is there an easier way to separate the merged containers other than by (a)
creating more space between the merged container and the adjacent container
and then dragging a note out of the merged container so that a separate
container is created for it? (For example, hitting the combination of the
CTRL + ENTER keys at the end of a note to separate it from the next note and
put the next note into a separate container would be ideal -- no, folks, this
doesn't work in OneNote.)

Re Question 1: I know that one is supposed to be able to avoid merging note
containers by holding down the ALT key while dragging the paragraph handle of
a note container, but even when I am successful in keeping a moved container
separate from a newly adjacent note container, I find that later in my note
taking session, the containers often end up getting merged. This is more
frequently the case when there is not a lot of space between the note
containers in the first place.

Try this:

Put some text in two note containers. Make one about twice the width
of the other. Drag the narrow one over a blank part of the wider one.

If you make the two note containers of significantly different width
you can overlay one container over another and they stay separate.
Even if the narrower container is totally contained in the wider one.

I don't have any information about how different they have to be. But
it does seem to work when one is significantly narrower than the
other.
