Hi,

In Office 2003 and older, Office didn't help so much by automatically attaching arrows to blocks (basically the freeform). Is there a way to set everything to freeform by default?

Also, resizing blocks is a pain as well. Is there a way to just turn in all off, i.e. when resizing the block from a large to small, it will automatically resize to a small rectangle or something that I didn't want.

Its taking twice as long to do anything with this new stuff compared to the old versions.

Please HELP!

Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean - the drawing tools in Office
2004 operate pretty much the same as in 2003 & prior versions, Mac or PC.
There was no change in their behavior until the new graphics engine was
introduced in the 2007/2008 versions of the software. Are you possibly using
2004 to edit a file that was created by one of the later versions (.pptx)?

In 2003/2004 format (.ppt) the only objects that "attach" to others are
those in the Connectors group, but that's what they're for. Even they will
not connect to anything unless you use them close to another shape, but none
of them are "freeform" in the first place. When you select one of the
Connectors as your tool & place the pointer near another shape that shape
will display blue "connecting points". However, lines drawn using the tools
in the Lines group don't connect to anything, including Flowchart shapes.

The Freeform tool [Lines group] is for creating closed paths as well as open
ones, but even open paths drawn using it do not connect to other shapes.
What you mean by "freeform" is unclear since that's the only "freeform" tool
available. You might click the Draw button on the Drawing Toolbar, point to
Snap & make sure To Grid is selected rather than To Shape.

It's also unclear what you're referring to as a "block" -- there is a
specific group of Block Arrows, but the only other use of the term in the
Drawing tools is a Block Arc.

If you can more exactly describe the problem & accurately identify the tools
you're using I'm sure someone can help you resolve the issue. Also, make
sure you have both Office [11.5.5] & OS X [10.5.7] fully updated.
