Turn off Office XP sounds??

I have unchecked "provide sound with feedback" in Tools and in Control Panel
have made sure no Office sounds are activated. Why does the spell checker in
Word still give me a beep?

This is a Windows setting. In Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia, you can
set the sound (or no sound) to associate with specific defined events, one
of which is an error of any type. It's probably a good idea to leave this
enabled and mute or turn down your speakers (using the speaker icon in the
Systray).
