It took forever to figure how to turn on, how do you turn off? I went into
rules and thought I shut it off but its still sending to people every so
often. Why? How do you shut off? 2003 was so much easier!

You enable/disable Out of Office in the same place: Tools - Out of Office
Assistant.

It was in the same location in Outlook 2003.

To piggyback off this question....

There is no official "Out of Office" Enable/disable button (I could send you
a print screen to show you

Tools/Out of Office Assistant... there is no enable/disable button. We just
migrated from lotus notes to outlook 2007 while I was on vacation and in
Notes I had an enable/disable button. There is no such button in Outlook.
The only options for me are two buttons - Do not send out of Office
auto-replies, Send Out of Office Replies - then there are two tabs... Inside
my Org and Outside my Org. There is also a rules button (which has no rules
enabled). What a nightmare!

So how do I get this button to magically appear

There is no button.

Do you want to send out of office replies (ie, do you want to enable it)?
Select that option.
Do you *not* want to send out of office replies (ie, do you want to disable
it)? Select that option.

Enable == Send Out of Office Replies
Disable == Do not send out of office replies

If I had to guess, because something is broken.

First, I would verify that the Out of Office is off in OWA. If it isn't,
shut it off there. Sometimes, Outlook loses the sync settings with Exchange.
Second, I would try enabling it, oking out, and going back in to disable
to see if that resolves the problem.
Last, I would save out my rules and then start Outlook with the /cleanrules
switch.
