I often have to use cut and past. My selected text often has tabs and
other white space that gets skewed due to the columnar behavior.
As a default, i would like to turn that off and only use it when i
need to. Is this possible.

Does it work any better if you use the paste tag and paste text only?

When you paste, there should be a little paste tag to the side at the bottom
of what you paste (usually on the right). Click that. One of the options
should be to paste text only.

If you need a screen shot of the tag, let me know....

Thank you. While this did not turn it off, it does allow me to better
deal with this.
