turning off folder synchronization in Outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 synchronizes my folders 2 to 3 times a day and during that time
my computer slows to a crawl and I want to turn this feature off. All my
email accounts are POP3, and I do not have "Work offline" checked.

Could someone please tell me how to turn it off.

I'm no expert, but if you go under
Tools/
Send/Receive Settings/
Define Send/Receive Groups/
Click All Accounts, (or the particular account you need) and Edit
Choose the account you want to change on the left
Select the appropriate options....

Hope that gets you to what you need. JMac

JMac,

I tried this for Outlook 2007. I was still unable to turn off the
synchronization of files. I start to think maybe the only alternates is to
buy add-on tools like MAPILab Share`n`Sync software or to get a Windows Vista
Ultimate Edition PC to go along with a Window Vista Home Preminum Laptop by
using RDP method.

Any feedbacks?

I have been trying to solve this problem as well because it's very annoying
to me. I see no further discussion since March but i am hoping that someone
has positive feedback.

I too am finding this very frustrating. I've found threads concerning this
problem all over the net going back several years! How do we get through to
the powers that be? This is a Microsoft help site after all!

Well, no it's not. It's a peer-to-peer newsgroup that Microsoft happens to
host on one of their servers. It's not an official support channel and if
you really want to contact Microsoft, you'll need to use one of the methods

Sorry about that.
I navigated to this site through the Microsoft help site and it sure does
look official so I hope I won't be blamed for thinking it would be moderated
by Microsoft.

I just find it a bit surprising that a thread that seems to have been
running for more than two years didn't seem to be getting any response. I
don't know that for sure so I will check out the site(s) you mention to see
what's there.
