Turning on Approving Timesheets

G

George F

My understanding of this functionality is that intermediaries can approve
timesheets which are then integrated into the schedule by the manager of the
schedule?

How do you assign the intermediaries? I assume it's not by republishing and
becoming the manager?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Before you can use the Timesheet Approval feature in Project Server, your
Project Server administrator must enable the Managed Time Periods feature
(Admin - Customize Project Web Access) and set up one or more Managed Time
Periods. He/she must also enable the Timesheet Approval and Approve
Timesheets global permissions for Resources features (Admin - Server
Configuration). Also, please be aware that only those in the default
Resource Managers group in PWA have permissions to approve timesheets for
resources. Beyond this, your organization must use the RBS field for
security to show Project Server which resources belong to which Resource
Managers so that each Resource Manager will approve only his/her own
resources' timesheets. As you can see, the setup of the Timesheet Approval
piece is no small undertaking.

For in-depth information about using the Timesheet Approval process and
Managed Time Periods features, you might consider purchasing our company's
two books on Project Server 2003 by clicking either of the URL's in my
signature block. Hope this helps.
