This is rather out of my league but here goes. My access app is used to
manage pdf documents related to specific chemcial names. The docs have to be
scanned and then of course linked to the appropriate db record. The app does
this nicely (with many thanks to this newsgroup) with forms etc. When I set
up the dbase on a client machine, I usually add a control that simply starts
their scanner appliciation (run.exe) so they don't have to go to another menu
to start the scanner. Here goes. . . Is there code that can be put on form
control so that it will automatically find the .exe for whatever scanner is
installed on a client machine?
I'm starting to think that to get this sophisticated would entail hiring a
developer to make a commecial application of the database and incorporate the
TWAIN specification into the application so that when it is installed, it
will automatically connect to the scanner device through a button on the
form. Am I way off base here or does anyone have ideas on this? Thanks.
