Two (Asst.) Heads Share Three Subordinates...

I'm using Power Point 2003 and I don't have much experience with Power Point.
I'm starting with the Chief. As subordinates of the Chief there are two
Assistant Chiefs. Off the two Assistant Chiefs there are three Corporals.
That's where my problem begins. The three Corporals each have a number of
Patrol Officers that answer to them, but the Corporals answer equally to the
two Assistant Chiefs. I want a connector line from each Assistant Chief
drawn to the three Corporals and I want everything centered and balanced.

I can create two subordinate Corporals from one Assistant Chief and one
subordinate Corporal from the other Assistant Chief, but then everything
looks off balance that way. I want the Patrol Officers (co-workers) added as
subordinates to the same boss so that they will branch vertically in columns
and I can do that. Again, where I am having trouble is between the two
Assistant Chiefs and three Corporals.

The orgchart tool in PowerPoint is only made for simple structures. In your
case I would recommend to draw and format a rectangle. Copy that as a
template as often as you need it. Use Z-shaped connectors to connect the
shapes and use Draw - Align to align and distribute the shapes. You are much
more flexible that way.

Best regards,
Ute
