two clicks versus one to open a file

Please give me exact instructions how to reinstate opening a file folder with
two clicks. I somehow inadvertently changed it to one click to open a file.
As a result if I want to edit the file folder's name, when I click on it with
one click, I cannot just edit the name. Instead it opens the folder with the
one click, thus bypassing my choice to edit by using one click and then a
second to open my file.

I'm not sure why you're posting this Windows issue in a group for VBA in
Word, but ok...

Open Windows Explorer (also called Computer or My Computer). Click Tools >
Folder Options. On the General tab, click the "Double-click to open an item"
option and click OK.

Adding to what Jay said (in particular the first part), if you find
yourself in that position again, use the other mouse button.
