Two Copies of OneNote

A

allhart

I have a copy of OneNote at work and at home. I would like to share the
information between the two but have not figured out a good way to do that.
There is no import/export feature. I have tried opening sections, but they do
not replace the existing ones, so I end up too many sections. I would
appreciate any ideas someone would have.

Do you have VPN access to your files at work?
If not, save the notebooks on a USB stick and open them from the same
stick on both computers. OneNote will create a local copy of the
notebooks (so you can work with it without having the USB stick plugged
in). When you plug the USB stick back in, OneNote will sync any changes
you made locally to the USB stick. On your other computer, simply put
the USB stick back in with OneNote open, and it will merge the changes
into your local copy.

I have VPN access, but our VPN client does not work with Vista very well, so
I will have to use the USB stick method. I am assuming that you are talking
about doing a file/save as and saving the current notebook and the type as
..onepkg? I will give that a try. Thanks!

No, I am not.
On one computer, close all notebooks. Then close OneNote. Then with
Windows Explorer move all your notebooks to the USB stick. Reopen
OneNote and open the notebooks directly from the stick.
On the other computer, close all notebooks as well and then open them
from the stick.

allhart,

Q: are both computers hooked up to the internet most of the time ?
Q: would you be allowed to setup your own VPN (ie. hamachi ?)

You could VPN the two computers together in a Hamachi VPN (almost no
setup required). Not sure if Hamachi would conflict with your current
VPN.

OneNote 2007 + Hamachi = Awesome.
