Two Excel 2007 problems..

1st - When I open Excel multiple files open in the same instance of the
program. How do I make the open in a separate instance?

I have a dual monitor setup. I'd like to be able to open two files, and have
one on one window, one on another.

2nd - In trying to find a solution for the above, I did something and now
everytime I open a file it tries to open 3 files that do not exist anymore,
thus I have to click OK 3 times everytime I start up Excel. How do I fix
this? I know I went into Tools, Folder Options, File Types, but can't seem
to get rid of the problem in there.

Stretch the Excel window across both monitors. You won't like what
happens when you have two instances of Excel running.

Stretching it across two monitors will do no good. I need to be able to SEE
both Excel files at once. Instead they will be tabs across the bottom of the
screen.

What do you mean I won't like what happens when you have two instances of
Excel running? What happens? I can have two instances of other programs open
just fine and I like it.

I don't like what happens when I try to copy formulas from a workbook in one
instance of excel to a workbook in a different instance of excel.

I don't like that it's difficult (impossible for me) to use VBA in one instance
to control what happens in the other.

I found two solutions and both work good.

One is the link to Chip Pearson's site. That works great.

The other was to open my Excel file, then goto Start and Excel and it opens
another instance of Excel. I can drag that to the second monitor.

Eitheway is nice for me. The second way I don't care if stuff doesn't copy
right. I'm not copying, only comparing two files and deleting certain
things.

Now, I can't figure out how to fix the other problem of Excel trying to open
files when I open Excel. It tries to open 3 or 4 files each time and I have
to click OK.

Oh. Well, I don't haven't had any trouble with the limited copying I've
done, and I don't use VBA at all.
