two Heading of different format?

hi all,

I want to do the following numbering format, but i have no idea.

1. AAA
1.1 BBB ("bold")
1.1.1 this is a sentence
1.2 CCC ("bold")
2. BBB
2.1 Normal text without "bold"

The above may not viewed with the proper format. What I want is 1.1 shall be bold (with both number & text) but 2.1 is not bold. Can it be done?

Many thanks

Only by changing the formatting manually. Or by not linking
the numbering to any particular style.

Yes, it can be done. But you need to use LISTNUM or SEQ fields to perform
your numbering.

LISTNUM fields are easier to use. Look them up in the Help.

Remove the List numbering from your paragraph styles, and insert LISTNUM
fields in their place.

That allows you to have two styles with different names at ³Outline Level
2². Which is what you need to have a LISTNUM field show you 1.2 in bold and
2.1 in normal face. You have to use two styles, and you can¹t have two
styles of the same name. You can have multiple styles at the same Outline
Level. LISTNUM numbering is linked to the Outline Level of the paragraph,
not its name. Alternatively, you can set no level at all on the paragraph
and use a switch in the LISTNUM code to specify the level for each specific
field.

cheers

Many thanks for Cindy's and John's reply.

Cindy's approach does function, but somehow my formatted heading 2 does not
work accordingly (my heading 1 & 3 work very well). I combine your reply in
my another question to reset the heading 2 and all problem solved!
