I have two WinXP SP2 desktops for which I just purchased and installed Office
Pro 2007. Both are full boxed upgrades. The prior app for each was Office
Pro 2000 SP3 with all updates.
D/T (desktop)-1 accepted Office 2007P happily and successfully deleted all
unneeded O-2000P files. It's only current glitch is that it has be forced
("end now") to close Word 2007. It appears to be passing through a blank Word
2000 "window" along the way to closing.
D/T-2 Did not delete O-2000P during O-2007P installation, and 'announced'
there were competing office systems in use. (Same software, same generation
hardware, only difference is D/T-2 has O/E email, not Outlook.) After
removing O-2000P, all seems to be operating correctly, although MS Repair
Tool had to be invoked to find the installed applications and reconnect them
to the Office central dashboard. But, during installation, it was noted that
there was writing to another drive occurring - a drive normally only used for
archival or removable data storage, not any office apps. The drive now has a
folder called "Office 12" with several office apps and the setup script for
O-2007
Q: (1) How to get Word 2007 to close correctly. Delete and Re-install? MS
Office Repair tool does not fix.
(2) Why is Office 12 on drive F:\? Does it matter? (This is a removable
drive.)
