Two Identical Notebooks w same name? can't be right

ON 2007. This has been going on a long time and perhaps since soon after
install when the code was released as final:

My most-used notebook has two exact copies in the notebook list. One always
displays, in the name bar at the top of the sections, a green circle icon
that is the ActiveSync logo with a big green check on it-- the text appears
on rollover. I can't find any difference in the content.

I have no apparant problem associated with this but it can't be right. Any
suggestions ?

Is it in fact the same notebook that is open twice? If you add something
to one copy, does it appear in the other after it's had time to sync?
Either way, it is possible to open the same notebook through several
different paths. If that happens, you can close one of the copies with
no ill effects.

Yes, as I said, same content and structure, so I have closed the version
without the "updated" icon.

Thanks for such a quick response.
