Two in-house PCs, two webcams, how to connect

I have two HP Pavilion PC's with Windows XP Home Edition. A Logitech Webcam
is installed on each. Would like to connect the PC's and their webcams to
each other. Since it's all in once house, is it necessary to use phone
lines? We just want to see what's going on in one end of the house using the
webcams. Thank you.

After furious head-scratching, dexter's desk asked this group:

Millie {of MVP Outlook}: Thank you for your reply. Obviously I am a bit new to all of this. Will take your advice and look for the proper group my question belongs to.
