Two issues with Outlook 2002

W98se / Office XP / Outlook 2002.

Outlook's CUSTOMIZE command/button freezes Outlook. Any suggestions ?

Also, though I've posted the next query at ms.public.outlook newsgroup, I've
noticed there seems to have been no activity there since the 4th of this
month - aside from my question posted today. Therefore, if I may, I'd like
to post it again here:

When replying to e-mails and wanting to select a given font, I must sort
through about 12 undesired fonts which populate the Font Dropdown list. Is
it possible to clear these fonts ? If so, how may I clear or reset that list
?

Thanks.

You might try the Detect and Repair feature. Access this from Outlook's Help
menu.

Ehm.... Well, a solution has been found to the Word / Outlook Font dropdown
box question. No thanks to this newsgroup, but thanks to one Suzanne S.
Barnhill - MVP of Word newsgroup.

For anyone interested, see here

As for the other "Customize" toolbutton freezing up Word / Outlook, I shall
look for a solution in *some other newsgroup* as this one is snoozing at the
wheel. My apologies, but that is the way it appears.

ciao, adios, and sayonara.......

I don't know how you're examining the contents of the group, but there
certainly has been plenty of activity between the 4th and the 7th when you
posted.

I'm glad the Word newsgroup was helpful. Apparently it was a Word problem.

Well that last post of mine sure got a response (nearly 16 hours later from
my original. whoa ... and near a whole whopping 26 minutes from the last
one). Too bad that when one asks a question here one doesn't get as rapid a
reply as I did from this last *snappy one*. Shows where one's priorities of
pride is... "ooohhh ... he badmouthed this Outlook group... Hello... 911...
Rapid Response tactical team .... "

Guess that also goes to illustrate that those who *don't know* wouldn't say,
"Gee, sorry, I don't know, but maybe you could ask elsewhere, like at the
Word newsgroup, for instance". The post has been there since late last
night. No reply. 26 minutes later..... AFTER I find a solution...and state I
have, then ........... bah.

I even answered a couple in the interim.... with accurate info and w/o
wiseacre remarks.

I know how to use OE as my newsreader and I removed / compacted / reset all
newsgroups and nothing new was coming in. Not the first time MS newsgroup
servers have had issues though.

But anyway... Milly.... No; I won't let the door hit me as I leave, and I
wouldn't expect you to hold it either. I also notice you have no possible
*positive input* regarding the Customize button.

Fool me once, shame on me... fool me twice..... :) .... and maybe take some
of your precious time to catch up on some more current insults.... that
"...door..." one is pretty tired, just as is "Have a nice day...".

Hope you'll "have a nice day".

Thank you for your civilized and sincere answer Brian.

I'm examining the contents via OE newsreader... not the MS -CDO webpage.
I've been around before - Have a couple thousand posts to my name - and a
search in the Google / MS newsgroups will reveal that, though it's not
necessary nor is it germane.

I gave up posting after two or so years of helping and being helped, to
pursue other interests, but found I couldn't lick this problem by myself,
although I tried to. So.... I returned once again to get a helping hand.

Yes.... it was a MS Word problem, but I (mistakenly ?) thought that Outlook
normally uses Word as the e-mail editor, so I posted here. In fact, with any
prior "Word" problems, I've generally had OK results from either Outlook /
Outlook.General newsgroups.

Anyway, I thank you. :)

cheers,

Hmmm... yes, I'd considered that notion, yet am slightly paranoid of it. It
will probably reset all toolbars and numerous sundry items I don't want to
deal with. It'll probably 're-install' OSA.exe and want to again enable
MDM.exe , etc. Just to fix one thing, I'll then need to re-adjust 50 things.

However, I do appreciate the fact that you've taken time to try and help.
And yes, that *may* be the only way to address / remedy that particular
problem. I'll sleep on it.... and then decide which is the lesser evil.*ggg*

Thanks.
