I've fixed several embarrasingly stupid bugs in the utility so a new version is
available for download at http://autofeupdater.com/download.htm Or run the Check For
Updates logic.

Thanks, Tony!

First time encounter with your Auto FE Updater ... I like it!! Thanks
also for the excellent personal interaction as I was getting acquainted
with it -- *MUCH* appreciated.

A question for the wider audience:

I'd like to set the user's desktop shortcut icon to the company logo ...
but I have zero experience working with icons, and limited experience
working with graphics.

Can someone point me towards links, or utilities, or give me a set of
instructions?

Win XP Pro SP3, Office 2003 SP3

Thanks!

I've been meaning to create a page on that topic. In the mean time
try downloading a free program called Icon Suite. When you are
creating icons design/import whatever the largest size, 64x64 and get
that one looking good.

One key thing about that program is you have to know exactly what to
do to make part of the icon transparent if that's what you want. It
involves the graphic with a diagonal slash on it. I'd have to play
with it a bit to refresh my memory.

However if anyone has any better software that works with Icons I'd
love to read it myself.

I downloaded Icon Suite Version 2.1.12 from
http://www.bouffler.freeserve.co.uk/icon_edit.htm

Pretty straightforward; help file is included.

Thanks for the pointer.

One thing I am confused about ... I created a .ico file with several
icons in it; but Win XP utilities seem to only show one. Not a
show-stopper by any means; I did get the graphic I wanted converted into
an icon which turned out fairly well (for a newbie) :)

I forgot to add a crucial paragraph in my posting.I haven't used that
version.

The idea is that you create the largest icon, 64x64 and get it looking
good. Then, within the editor, save it as a 32x32 icon and get it
looking good. Then keep going down the available sizes until you get
to the small size.
