Two None values in added date field

Hello,
I added a new date field to a contact form named last call date. If I group
by that field, I get a group at the top of my list and a group at the bottom
of my list that both state "None" as the last call date field value.
Contacts that have a last call date value are in groups between the None
group at the beginning and the None group at the end.
I believe this behavior is only exhibited only in a public folder and not in
a pst. I wrote a quick utility to display the last call date for the
selected items and when choosing contacts from the first or last "None"
group, the date shows as "1/1/4501".
Any Ideas?

Let's make sure you've really added that field to the form. It needs to show up in the User-defined FIelds in This Item list on the All Fields page in design mode. Also, to make sure it has a value for all items created from the form, on that page, enter a date, switch to another field, then go back and the delete that data.

Hi Sue,
The "LastCallDate" field exists in the user defined fields in folder and the
user defined fields in item list. I did notice that there were some fields
in the udf in item list that were not in the udf in folder list. I have
added the missing fields to the folder. Oddly though, the udf in item fields
that were not in the folder are not bound to any control on the form that I
can see. Anyway, is there a way to fix those records or to get the "None"
date fields to match up? This is a contact form and has about 160 user
defined fields in it.

For existing items, all you should need to do is drag the items from one None group to the other, then repeat going the other way.

To avoid the problem in the future, did you try what I suggested, in the form design, putting a date in those fields, then deleting it to try to make sure that a default date is stored in the form design?

The users would prefer to see the None value instead of a default date so
that is a last resort. I will try the dragging of the items. When I drag
the items, it is only that one field (LasCallDate if grouped by LastCallDate)
that changes correct? I guess the modified by and modified date fields would
change also. Am I correct?

I think you missed my point: The default date that I was suggesting was None (= #1/1/4501#).

You would need to use the drag-to-a-group procedure for each date field you want to change. Group on that field, then do the dragging to fix the values of the existing items.

You are right. I did miss the point of using the #1/1/4501# as the default.
