Two numb formats 291283 not working

Trying to have two numbering schemes as described in How
to 291283 Method 1. However, the footer takes its
guidance from the header. If the header is Sheet 1 of 3
and the footer should be page 6, the footer will be page
2. I am entering the field code {={seq variable2 \c}+
{page}} correctly but it doesn't count the total number
of pages.
The first page of the document is not numbered.
The second and third are numbered i and ii.
The remainder should be numbered 1,2,3...

Hi Bob,

You should have a First Page header/footer in your document with no page
numbering. For the numbering on Pages 2 and 3, in the Header/Footer as the
case maybe, use the following field construction

{ IF { PAGE } < 4 { PAGE \* roman } { = { PAGE } - 3 }

I am not really having a problem with any numbers until I
get to a section break with the two numbering schemes,
then when I restart the section page number in the
header, the overall page number in the footer becomes
dependant on the header and updates it by one number.

With the field construction I suggested, you would not need a section break.

If you are using section breaks, to get the number in the footer, you would
need to bookmark a { PAGE } field at the end of the previous section and use
a cross reference ({ REF } field ) to the text of that bookmark in a formula
field construction so that you could add it to the number displayed by the
{ PAGE } field in the following section.
