When I purchased my computer last year, it came with Office 2003 Standard
Edition already installed. However, when I went to college, the professional
edition was available in our bookstore at a volume media rate, so I bought it
as well.
I've had no problems at all with running any office applications, but
recently, when I was trying to clear up hard drive space, I noticed that both
the Standard Edition and the Professional Edition of office appear on the Add
or Remove Programs list. Oddly, the standard edition takes up 462 MB, while
the professional edition only takes up 302 MB. I was wondering if I could
remove the standard edition without any consequences to free up some space.
Also, if it helps, when I run any office app, the about box displays the
version as being part of Office Professional, so I know that Pro is the main
one that runs, but I still don't understand why Standard takes up more space
in the Add/Remove Programs list.
Thanks in advance for help/suggestions!
