Two page 1's

I have two page 1's in a document that I am working with but did not
originate. Any idea how that could happen? I have never worked with
sections, but if sections start numbering over again, this document should
not have sections. Anyway, I don't know how to figure out if sections are
involved, perhaps by accident.

How can I have two page 1's. And what do I do about it????? HELP! This is
a dissertation, and getting the doctorate requires perfect formatting. How
does anyone get a doctorate when Word won't cooperate???

The two page 1's are one right after the other. Obviously, every page
number after that is one off.

I have just learned about sections (Suzanne in another post told me how to
make sections visible at the bottom of the page. THANKS SUZANNE!). I now
assume that this problem has to do with specifying whether pagination should
re-start with a section break, as the two page 1's are in different
sections. How do I change this? HELP doesn't seem to help me much.

TIA

Found it on Google.
Click into section that is re-starting numbering.
Insert/Page Number/Format Page Numbers - click "continue from previous
section."

YAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
