Two PC's one printer - help please?

Peter

Hi I have 2 PC's, both running XP. I have one printer (HP 950) which
is connected to one of the PC's via a USB connector.

Both PC's are connected to a D-Link DSL-504.

Can anyone please advise if it is possible for both PC's to access the
one printer? If so, could anyone please point me towards an idiot
proof set of instructions?

As Peo has pointed out you can set up a network. I would
expect WinXP to have automatically done this for you. If
not; MyComputer->NetworkPlaces->Set up a home...network.
Once this is done then on the PC without a cable to the
printer: Start->ControlPanel->Printers->Add Printer- at
correct point specify network printer; you may need to use
the brower feature to locate printer on PC2.

OR) Spend $75 to get a Printer Server. Plug this into the
D-link and into printer. Fowllow unit's setup proceedure.
Advantages: printer can be used by either PC without both
being on, and by both at more or less same time.

OR) Quick and dirty: hook PC1 to printer with USB, and PC2
to printer with parallel cable.

best wishes
Bernard
