Two Personal Folders Appear; Only want One

J

Jimbo

Running Outlook 2003 on XP Home. Everything is
functional when I start Outlook but there is a nuisance
factor I would like to eliminate. For some reason there
are 2 sets of Personal Folders in the Navigation pane.
The first set is apparently a default set and the ssecond
one is one I copied from an older version of Outlook.
How can I eliminate the first set of Personal Folders and
only see the one that now appears as the second set?

You cannot close the default set of folders. You must first configure the
second set to be the default, restart Outlook, then you can R click and
close the set that is no longer the default. Here's how:
- Go to Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select the PST you added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following
location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current
default Personal Folders file) > Finish
- Exit and Restart Outlook
- You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder
while in Folder View and select "Close <foldername> Folders").
