two spaces between words

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Using Entourage 2004 (OS 10.4.11), I send messages in html and when the recipient replies to my email and repeats my original email, I can see that several words in my part of the email contain double spaces between them. If I check back on my original email, there are no double spaces in the same locations. I have googled this and it seems others have experienced the same problem but no solutions have been posted (other than only using plain text instead of html). I have tried using different fonts (ensuring they are PC and MAC system fonts) but with no luck. Any advice?

I would guess that this has to do with how your recipients' email client
unwraps and rewraps the message when quoting. The solution would be for
Entourage to support format=flowed. If this is important to you, send
Feedback to Microsoft.

Until then, I'd recommend you not worry about it. You'll make yourself crazy
worrying about how your quoted text looks when it gets sent back to you.

Thanks Adam, I'll feedback to Microsoft. I'm afraid ignoring this is not an option because the recipient may think I am careless or lazy, and as a designer/artworker I pride myself on being meticulous.

Is the recipient seeing double spaces in the *incoming* message or just when
it gets quoted?

I've just checked with the recipient and it seems the incoming message does not contain the double spaces. So it's only the quoted message. Phew, I can live with that, so thanks for the prompt. BTW I looked into the process of querying with Microsoft and I'm really not prepared to spend £46 on sorting this out (if the request for credit card details came after they had initially tried to sort out the problem, I would have tried, but I'm certainly not handing over those details before they even know what the problem is). Besides their system seemed to get in a loop when I tried Entourage as the app, it kept returning Excel. Doesn't matter now. Thanks Adam. Love to Eve.

Yes, it's just a matter of how their client quotes your message. It's
arguably still the fault of Entourage, but email is not a perfect medium.

In the Entourage program go to Help > Send Feedback About Entourage.
