Two versions of FP extensions on the same server?

One way to solve the problem of lack of backward compatibility of
FP2002 extensions with respect to FP Discussion boards would be to
have both FP2000 and FP2002 extensions on the same server.

Is there any way to do this on a Unix machine?

One way to do it would be to run more than one copy of apache with the
FP2000 module loaded into one, and the FP2002 module loaded into the other.

Is there a place on the internet where details of how to do that are
discussed?

Is there any concern that the two instances of apache would get in
each other's way? Would that be safe on a production machine?

What would I say to suggest that to my IPP? Would it require a major
addressing change on the IPPs part?

2 instances of apache wouldn't get in each other's way, I'm running them on
my gear with no problem, one with FrontPage, the other without.

It might require some readdressing, because you have to use different IPs
for each instance of apache. All websites using a specific IP could run
under only one version of apache or the other... so if your site's IP is
shared with dozens of other sites, your IP might have to change.

Getting your provider to run another copy of apache isn't a trivial matter,
but they might do it for you. They'll eventually have to support the 2002
extensions anyway.
