Two Windows XP installations on same partition

Hi,
I have windows XP installed by mistake twice on the same
partition. The installation that has all the user
accounts on has been discorrupted and gives a message
saying "hal.dll is missing from system32". When I log to
the second fresh "by mistake installed on the same
partition" XP installation, I can see all the user
account folders under Documents and Settings but I cannot
access them because they're secured by passswords. I
tried changing the logon screen so that I can manually
insert account names on the second installations and the
correct password but it didnt work out. Help anyone!
