Two y-axes

Hi,

I have column chart set up with two data series side-by-side, one of which
needs to be put on a different scale. When I click on the second data series
and select "secondary axis", the data series disappears for all except the
final data point, which is then stacked on top of series 1.

I am successful if I select custom chart and select "line -column on two
axes", but then my second data series is a line instead of a column.
Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I just noticed that it's not stacking the data, it's showing the smaller data
up to a point and then the larger data is going up to the taller height along
the y axis. I still would like to show two distinct bar charts, though--one

Hi,

This is probably happening because both series are being plotted as columns,
something that Excel is not well designed to handle.

One solution is to change at least one of the series to a line chart.
Select the series and choose Chart, Chart Type, Line.

A second somewhat more convoluted solution is to create two dummy series and
put one on one axis the other on the second axis. I wrote a couple of
articles on this technique in about 1991 and also published it in a couple of
Excel books. Jon also has it on his website as do others.

If you need more detail, let us know.
