type alignment on ruled stationary

I statred using the equivalent of OneNote on Office 2004 for Mac. When I take
notes via the keyboard on ruled stationary the test lines up perfectly. When I
attempt to do this on OneNote using the default and "tight lines" stationary, and
my text shifts down as I move down the page. Waht am I doing wrong? There must
be a way for me to correct this. Im glad I have not purchased this for my PC
yet. I am using default font Verdana 10.

Tim,

Can you explain the problem in a little more detail?

Is the text actually shifting down the page as you "move down the
page"? Do you mean that when you scroll that the text actually moves
down the page?

Or do you mean that the relative positioning of the text you type and
the ruled lines is changing as you add more lines? In other words the
spacing between the bottom of a line of text isn't the same size as
the spacing between ruled lines?

Thanks

Andrew,

If I print out my notes thay are alinged with equal spaces between each line of
text. If I'm using the ruled stationary the first few lines are correct. See
below

This is how I expect OneNote to align to the stationary

Tim,

What I see in my newsreader may not be what you sent. :)

The problem is only when printing right? On screen it works ok?

If you can obtain a digital image of the problem I am happy for you to
email it to me to have a look at.

Tim,

Thanks for sending the sample file.

What I saw in my newsreader was very different from what you sent!!! I
am glad I didn't try to explain what I saw in my newsreader. :)

The basic problem is that the line spacing for the font size you are
using is fractionally different from the line spacing for the ruled
lines.

If you take a careful look at the first line you will see that it is
say 2mm above the ruled line. The next line of text is slightly closer
to the ruled line. This slight relative movement carries on for each
line down the page until it reaches the point where the text overlaps
the ruled lines and the "moving down" becomes obvious. But it's there
from the second line on the page.

I guess your follow up question is going to be, "How do I get it to
align perfectly?". By trial and error, I guess unless someone else has
a tried and tested method. I rarely use ruled backgrounds so haven't
spent significant amounts of time looking at this. Perhaps someone
else will already have solved this.

There are limits to fine tuning font size. You can *seem* to have a
font size of 9.8 but OneNote sneaks around in the background and
changes it to a whole number again. Sneaky! :) But it does limit your
options to get perfect alignment using that route.

Perhaps someone else can suggest an approach that works?

Andrew,
Thanks for the follow up. I will try to play with the font size to see if I can
make it work. Maybe MS could offer a ruled template with a recomended font?
