"Type Conversion Failure" errors

Paddy

Hi all,
Am importing multiple excel files to access and
all seems to work fine except i get alot of error
messages while importing due to "Type Conversion Failure".
All my Data types and field names in both applications
are identical except some of the input values are empty
and it varies from file to file with each having
different values in their feilds. Any help on how to get
rid of the error messages will be much appreacited.

P.S am a novice with access

Importing from Excel is tricky. When you import a sheet into a table,
Access decides on the datatype based on the first few rows in the sheet.
So if you have a number in the first cell of a column, it will create a
numeric field to hold the column. If in subsequent rows, the value has a
character value, you will get a Type Conversion error.

I am personally much more comfortable with importing text files and so I'd
recommend saving the sheet as a comma delimited file (CSV) and import that.
You have much more flexiblity with text files.
