Type does not match in document

I have a word document that I did all in Arial 12 point. About two pages
into document, the type becomes dimmer, and stays that way throughout the
rest of documnt. The first two pages are bolder, but are not set to bold.
They seem to be correct. But I cannot get type in rest to match, either on
screen or in print.

It sounds like the dimmer portion might be formatted as a shade of gray
instead of black.

Make a backup copy of the document. Then try this: press Ctrl+A (select
all) followed by Ctrl+Space (reset to default character formatting).

That did it! I was almost ready to retype an entire paper - after spending
an incredible amount of time trying to solve the problem, with no luck. So
easy if I had known what to do! I have no idea how this happened, but I am
happy to have it resolved. Thank you so much!
