typing degrees

i need to describe a 45 degree angle - this should appear as 45 with a small
circle just to top right of 5. any idea how I do this?

Type 45 then CTRL+@ then Space or ALT+0176 on the numeric keypad - 45°

The degree symbol has a shortcut assigned to it by default:
Ctrl+@,space (that is, on a US keyboard, hold Ctrl and Shift while
pressing the 2 key, release all keys, then press the spacebar).
