Typing event info directly to the Calendar

Is there a way to type "new event" information directly into the Entourage Calendar (as one can do with MS Outlook) without the "new event" window popping up? I use my calendar not merely to set appointments, but to log my work hours, both in terms of type of work and duration. It would be less annoying if I could type the info directly into the hour slot of the calendar without that New Event window popping up (which only adds an extra, unnecessary step to the process). Thanks for any help you can offer.

You could drag and drop your mouse to create a event and type the title and
location inline.

Thanks

In day view or week view you can click and drag on a date to create a new
event, then just type in the text. It doesn't work in month view.
