typing lagging in Outlook

Recently , periodically when I'm typing in Outlook, the type appears in the
email lagging behind the keyborad (sometimes for 10-20 seconds).

I have not noticed this issue with any other Office programs (or other
products).

It does not happen all the time but is irritating.

I haven't been able to isolate any circumstancs in which this seems to occur.
