typing over text

Hi all,
I am having this problem with Word on my Mac. When I want to insert
words into text I have already written it is writing over the existing
text. I know on a PC I can just hit "insert" and fix this problem but I
can't figure out how to fix this on my Mac??? Can anyone help?

On the status bar at the bottom of the document, you should see the letter
OVR, with a green dot next to them. Click it so that the dot is no longer
green, which will take you out of Overtype mode and back into Insert mode.

Same thing works in windows, by the way.

Overtype mode can also be turned on and off via Word | Preferences | Edit,
"overtype mode".
