typing problem

If I want to type several spaces or letters at once, I used to be able to
just hold down the key for continuous typing. Somehow I changed a setting and
now I have to repeatedly hit the key in order to get multiple space,s
backspaces, etc. How do I undo this?

You should be able to adjust this in the Control Panel - settings for keyboard.

There are two types of settings that affect this.

1. In Windows Control Panel | Keyboard, you can select the Repeat Rate and
Repeat Delay.

2. In Windows Cotnrol Panel | Accessibility, you can enable FilterKeys,
which filters out "stuttering."

In all likelihood, it is (2) that is your problem because there are built-in
keyboard shortcuts that enable the Accessibility Options. When you are in
that dialog turning off FilterKeys, also disable the shortcut that will
invoke it (which is holding down the right Shift key for eight seconds).

Twice in the last few days I've paused with my pinky on the shift key
and a window appears with a beep asking if I actually want to invoke
FilterKeys, so it's not a problem if you accidentally do that.
