Typing text on a connector is very slow?

Whenever I am typing text on a Connector Line in Visio 2003, it looks like
the screen is regenerating after every letter press and it takes a long time
to type in anything.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I've tried adjusting most of my
Visio Options for more speed but to no avail.
