Typographic Symbols translates and Converting and Macro

User must download a document from a web source that is updated often. I
cannot control the source that may be using WP. When I download to my
machine or others with Word 2003 a certain type of Typograhical symbol font
shows up. "G"s for boxes and "!" for bullet points. The remaining fonts are
Times New Roman...

The user then opens the document on the local drive and spends time
converting the "G"s to boxes and the "!"s to bullet points. Then the users
fills in the form and submits it. This instance may only include one company
that she is entering data for. Because the source is constantly changing the
document she must go to original source even though it may be a week later.
She must then download a new document which may have been changed by the
source and then once again convert the Gs and !s. (Takes this user maybe 30
minutes)

Real problem occurs when user may need to complete 4 forms in an instance
and the user converts but does not copy new versions of the document and uses
1 document by deleting old info from existing and adds new info. Copy a
clean converted document 4 times would work but....

I need a quick macro that focuses on the 2 typograhical symbols found and
converts them appropriately.

karenp:

Can the target symbols be found in a Find and Replace operation? If so, it
would be a simple matter to record a macro that does the Find and Replace
operation twice.

You'd want to edit the resulting VBA code to change the search behavior to
replace all and stop when done etc. You'd also want to assign the macro to a
toolbar or menu, probably in a global add-in template that holds just tools
(not Normal.dot).
