UGH! Opening Ecxel files over the network...

Robert

OK - in Word, when try to open a file over the network that someone else
has open already, it tells me that the file is locked and I can't open it. In
Excel, if I do the same thing, it let's me open it, change it, save it... Kind of a
problem. How do I make this work so that if someone is working on a file
that someone elso can't open it until they are finished???

If the file is a shared workbook (Tools - share workbook), this is a normal
feature of Excel and it will allow both users to make changes to the
workbook and keep the changes straightened out. To get exclusive use of the
workbook, do not share it.
