I recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP Professional.
I am in the UK and my regional and language options are set via Control
Panel to reflect this, including the use of a day-month-year date format.
However, even if I specifically format an Excel cell as dd/mm/yyyy it no
longer recognises a string like 23/04/2001 as a date. If I enter 04/23/2001,
or even just 4/23, it will recognise this as a date and it will appear as
23/04/2001 in the cell but as 04/23/2001 in the formula bar. A similar
problem occurs with Access entry fields.
I had no problems with date format under Windows ME. I have checked and
rechecked my "regional" settings, and have even reinstalled Office 2002. The
problem occurs with both new and legacy documents.
Prehaps I'm missing something obvious, but I can't find the solution.
Grateful for suggestions.
