Ultimate Steal Office 2007 and Upgrading to 2010

Good morning,

I am in the process of ordering the Ultimate Steal for students. I also
noticed Microsoft has announced if your purchase Office between now and the
end of the year you will receive a free upgrade to 2010. Does this include
the Ultimate Steal version, given the steep discount Microsoft gives to
students?

Thank you for your help.

I noticed there is a tab in the top right corner of the screen that says "Buy
Office 2007 Today, Download Office 2010 FREE!" On the page for Australia, it
has it right on the main page.

Would someone please say yes or no.

Thanks.

We are not Microsoft employees over here. Try to locate a phone number in
that site and call them for a more definitive answer.

It says,

"Buy Office 2007 Today, Download Office 2010 FREE!"

right on the main page for the US also. Perhaps you are using some
blocking software?

JoAnn/Bob,

I understand your position. I was hoping "official" Microsoft staff were
monitoring the forums.

I have talked to MS Store. Their answer is no. But I looked at Microsoft's
website regarding the Office 2010 Technology Guarantee, it says Office
Ultimate is covered (I printed off the page where it identifies the product
as qualifying).

Hence my dilemma. Is the website just marketing and not specific to the
student deals. Or was the MS Store incorrect.

I have not found any other number to verify which is correct.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, these are newsgroups provided for the public to discuss issues
and help each other. As to the quandary, you could always just wait till
2010 is released, and buy it then.

Nancy,

No. These students discounted packages never qualify for free upgrades
simply because they are not cost effective to do so.

As you say, there is a steep discount on Office 2007 so you can either
wait until 2010 is released end June 2010 or you could buy Office 2007
now and then buy another copy of Office 2010. I don't recommend this
approach though.

I do, however, strongly suggest to download Office 2010 Beta now and
start getting used to it because the Released Candidate version is not
likely to be any different from the beta version.

Thanks all for your information. I am surprised how Microsoft is using the
marketing of Buy Office 2007 and Receive 2010 for Free on its web pages and
not standing behind it.

Have a great weekend all.
