Ultimate Steal Product Installation

BallisticsGirl

Hi,

I just downloaded and installed Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 (Windows
XP/Vista) from the Ultimate Steal program for students and I have a desktop
that I need to download it on as well. I was given the impression that this
is a retail license which would mean that I can download it to three
computers... How would I go about downloading the application to the other
computer(s)? Would I just transfer the file (that is currently sitting on my
desktop) to the new computer via USB port or do I need to download it from
another site somewhere?

Any and all help greatly welcomed!

You were given the wrong impression. The only license that allows that is
the Home and Student retail version. You need to read the license terms to
see how many computers you can install it on.

The only thing that I could find on it was that it was infact a retail
license and not an academic license. When I went to go look up retail license
that is where I found the deal about three computers which is why I
downloaded it seeing that the it says it is a perpetual retail license
http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/terms.aspx

the problem with that link is that it does not tell you if you can add it to
another computer or not, which is why I came here. I don't want to spend the
amount I paid for one computer when I could get it for a little more for
three computers. There wasn't one place anywhere on the site that I could
find (and I spent well over an hour looking through the faqs) that stated you
could or could not add the program to more then one computer.

to add to this I also found this in the faqs whikch lead me to believe the
multi computer download:

Ultimate Steal website FAQ:

Are these products Academic license(s)/version(s)?
No, these are retail versions, which provide all the benefits you would
receive if you bought it at the store.

the above is why I went through downloading...

You need to pull the license up within the software.

Perpetual doesn't mean you can install it on three computers. It means it
doesn't "expire" after you are no longer a qualified user (student).
Assuming it does state that it's the same as a retail version, you are
limited to one desktop and one laptop used by *you* and not at the same
time.

And MS will send their goons to your house to make sure that you don't
use them at the same time. What a ridiculous and totally unenforceable
requirement!

To BallisticsGirl: your EULA can be found after opening any Office
program by going to Help/About.

1. I didn't write the license, I just paraphrased it.

2. Whether one follows the license agreement or not says a lot about the
user's personal code of ethics.

Or what one thinks of the agreement that has never been enforced in a
court of law and therefore has no teeth or real meaning.

Yup one computer and one laptop! Ended up calling microsoft proper with the
free 90 support to find out. All I have to do is request the pprogram from
the other computer.

Thanks for the help!
