UML Activity diagram - "Signal Send" problem

In the 'Transition' Category of the property window of the 'Signal Send'
Shape on my UML diagram, the event selection area is greyed out. As a
result, I'm unable to get rid of the 'no send action' that appears on the
diagram.

I've added signal events to my diagram, and I am able to select these events
with no problem from the 'Signal Receipt' shape.

I'm using Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects (10.0.525).

This question has also been posted by others, dating back to 2002, seemingly
with no response...
thought I'd try again!
